The Artist Lab helps further the career of its fellows by introducing them to professionals who can advise them on both the craft and business as a multi-hyphen creative with a flare for independent producing. Providing invaluable hands-on experience from inception to completion, selected fellows are paired with affiliated mentors and creative advisors at the top of their respective fields, to receive personalised guidance to help move their projects and careers forward.
Each year, 8 filmmakers from diverse backgrounds are given the opportunity to hone skills, form creative partnerships, create short films and gain industry access needed to succeed as working artists. The fellows culminate towards a final pitch session for established executives, offering participants valuable practical experience and the chance to introduce their projects to a larger cross-section of the industry.
The lab runs for 12 weeks, starting Monday 26th February 2024 and finishes Monday May 20th 2024.
Lab includes:
- Mentorship — Working industry professionals share knowledge and give guidance on craft and career.
- Conversations — Twelve Master Workshops offering insight on the art of acting and the business of filmmaking.
- Short Films — Fellows are given resources to produce short films that debut at a special “First Look Screening” event.
- Events — Fellows attend signature education programs, screenings, networking events and more.
- Fellowships — Fellows may be selected to receive cash grants from industry sponsors.
